Investing in Youth: Making a Difference in Chester County and Beyond
2023 Your generosity this year fueled the dreams of six graduating seniors! These exceptional students, all from Pennsylvania high schools, received scholarships to launch their college careers at various colleges and universities right here in the Keystone State. We're incredibly proud of their resilience in overcoming challenges.
The impact doesn't stop there! Thanks to your continued support, we also provided a grant to The Summit youth center at Trinity AG for some updates and renovations, and were able to award another grant to the Hearts in Hands Community Center, ensuring their summer camp program thrives again this year.
Notably, this year saw a significant increase in scholarship applications from several local high schools, reflecting the growing need.
2022 Much like 2021 we still saw a decline in submission in 2022, however, we are proud to have awarded four scholarships to outstanding students both local and attending various colleges around the East and South East Coast. We were also able to provided another grant to the Heart and Hands Community Summer Camp.
2021 Despite a decline in submissions, possibly due to the lingering effects of the pandemic, we're excited to announce that in 2021, we awarded five scholarships to deserving students! These outstanding individuals will be furthering their education at prestigious institutions like the University of Maryland and the South Carolina School of Leadership. Additionally, we're proud to have provided a grant in support of the enriching Heart and Hands Community Summer Camp.
2020 2020 had us pivot into something we have never done. We started online events, specifically designer bag bingo. We had three bingo events in 2020 and were able to raise $9,726. We did not get any submissions as things were on hold, we supported families in need, by donating some meals and supplies. We also provided meals to front line workers.
2019
This year, your donations provided several students scholarships to South Carolina – South Carolina Leadership School. Additional scholarships were awarded to students attending: West Chester University, Penn State University Altoona, and Penn State University. Your donations also enabled us to provide a grant to Hearts in Hands Community Centers - Youth Lifeguard Program. These students are trained in lifeguard skills and as camp counselors, so they realize their potential and break the cycle of generational poverty. Finally, your donations gave us the honor of awarding grants to students to be able to attend the PennDel Youth Summer Camp. To close out the year, we surprised the kids and The Summit at Trinity AG with some updated items for the kids to enjoy.
2018
Thank you for attending our events this year! Your support enabled us to provide 7 scholarships to students from Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and North Carolina. We were also able to help fund a mission trip to Uganda for a teen who has been dreaming of doing this. Additionally, we helped supply Trinity Youth Center - The Summit with some updated small items and funded some students who didn't have the money to go on the youth trips. Your contribution has made a significant impact, and we appreciate your generosity.
2017
We raised about $1,200 from those various events. We have already been able to give 9 scholarships/grants to various students. We partnered up with Hearts in Hands this summer, they offer a camp for kids in the Chester County area who need a positive place to go. Billy’s Legacy Foundation was able to provide a grant for $3,000 to help fund their camp for 60+ kids in the Honeybrook and surrounding areas. This grant allows families to send their child(ren) to camp for a very low cost or for free.
2016
In 2016 we raised about $23,000 at our 10th Annual Golf Outing and Dinner Banquet. We were able to help 12 students all the way from SC, Coatesville, Exton, West Chester, Octorara, and Boston to name a few. We also purchased a basketball hoop for the youth center at Trinity AG. During Thanksgiving, we volunteered our time filling boxes of love (Turkey Meals) at Trinity AG and donated $500 to help provide families in Chester County a meal for the holiday. At Christmas, we provided food, clothing, and small gifts for families in Chester County struggling due to different circumstances. We can’t do any of this without our donors! Thank you for a successful 2016!
2015
We continue to grow and are able to help more youth and families each month. In 2015, we gave 4 more scholarships, donated 50 turkey dinners to local families, and this month we are helping a few families in need during the holiday season. We have partnered with Trinity AG and Sunshine Pals Ministries, who are both like-minded organizations and these partnerships help expand everyone’s efforts to those in need. 2013
Qualified applicant attending George Washington University received a scholarship. The money was placed in their student account which could be used for textbooks, meal plans, etc. We received a heartfelt thank you letter and in it, they wrote, “I am speechless, honestly lost for words, and filled with joy. You (the foundation) deserves the utmost thanks I could ever give, thanks so much to everyone within the foundation. Billy your legacy still lives on.” Qualified applicant attending Delaware County Community College to pursue a career in Ultrasound technology has received a scholarship! Good luck to you! Another qualified application received a grant. We were happy to grant a family in need some much-needed help this cold winter. Qualified applicant attending Millersville University who is planning a career in Psychology received a scholarship!! The money was placed in their student account which could be used for textbooks, meal plans, etc.
We partnered with For Sale, Free or Trade in Chester County PA this year and helped 7 families in Chester County who are experiencing devastating situations. We purchased things like diapers, wipes, baby clothes, children’s clothes, books, boots, sheets, pots and pans, and more. Every child also got one of the @KohlsCares stuffed animals for a little extra cuddling! We are happy to report that a qualified couple received a grant from Billy’s Legacy, they headed to Grand Goave, Haiti, from March 17th to 26th, to work alongside Lifeline Christian Missions. They are building houses, working in an orphanage, distributing clothing, shoes, and food, while spreading God’s love. Please keep them in your prayers! We will be sharing more soon as applications and requests continue to come in. Over the past 6 years, through the generosity of people like you, we have raised about $90,000. A portion of this money was donated to help reduce the construction costs and maintain the Summit, Trinity’s Assembly of God’s youth center. Other scholarship funds that have benefited from Billy’s Legacy Foundation include the Brandywine Masters Commission Students, Ministry programs, and the Teen Challenge recovery program. At the 2012 event, we were able to share with you how Billy’s Legacy Foundations funds helped change the life of a young woman, Brooke Fischer. Here is a quote from her “Billy’s Legacy has impacted my life in many ways but one of the most important was how it has enabled me to serve others. In receiving the scholarship for Brandywine MC I was able to remain in the program which in turn allowed me to help other people and serve them in whatever they needed. Billy’s Legacy has by far been a huge blessing in my life”. Each year, our foundation is able to financially support different programs that focus on teenagers and helping them as they face difficult challenges and decisions in their everyday lives. We try to expand each year so we can reach out to and help more programs and ultimately touch more lives of teenagers. In 2012, we asked you to bring a toy for toys for tots and got a great response from Shriners Hospital.
